BEST PLACES TO TAILGATE IN DALLAS THAT ARE NOT A FOOTBALL GAME

May 9, 2018

Thank you to Twisted Tea for sponsoring this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

When you think tailgating, I bet your mind immediately goes to football games. While, yes, football is HUGE in Texas, football season feels about a million years away! Just because it isn't football season in Texas, doesn't mean we don't want to break out the corn hole, get all of our friends together, crank up the tunes, crack open a refreshing Twisted Tea and have a grand ole time!

A few weekends ago, I had the chance to visit Twisted Tea’s Pro Tips Tailgate RV, which stopped at the Texas Motor Speedway, where I learned firsthand what it takes to host (and throw) an epic tailgate. With all these pro tailgate tips, people need to know that there are a ton of unique places to tailgate (and enjoy the nation’s No. 1 hard iced tea) in DFW! Below, are some places that are just as fun as tailgating at a football game, but we can do it in the beautiful spring and summer weather.

COUNTRY MUSIC CONCERT

There is certainly no shortage of summertime and sunshine filled country concerts around DFW. There are plenty of concert venues in the area that have the perfect tailgate atmosphere. This summer, I have plans to see some of country’s big stars and I’m stoked to get the tailgating started!  For me, that is grabbing your friends, throwing down the truck tailgate and enjoying some Twisted Tea. It’s time to party - country style!

Bonus, if you're headed to see Dierks Bentley, there's a chance you'll run into the epic Twisted Tea tailgate tour bus. More on that in a moment but you can also learn more about it here!

BASEBALL GAME

One of my favorite places to tailgate is at a baseball game. While we all know and love the Rangers, there are two other awesome places to tailgate in DFW. The Frisco Roughriders and the Texas AirHogs in Grand Prairie are both so fun, and a WAYYYY cheaper ticket option.

YOUR OWN BACKYARD

There isn't anything better than having your friends over and grilling out and playing games in your own backyard. The pups are running around, music is blasting, and you really have nowhere else to be.

We live in Oak Cliff, and if the weather is nice, I guarantee all our neighbors are also hosting tailgates and get togethers outside. That gives me an idea for a progressive neighborhood tailgating party. I should probably write that down!

NASCAR

A few weekends ago I was lucky enough to be invited to the official Twisted Tea tailgate at Texas Motor Speedway. I've actually been to several NASCAR races, and tailgating at these are NEXT LEVEL. People set up campers and throw an epic weekend parties.

I got to try Twisted Tea for the first time, it was easily the perfect tailgate drink. It didn't bloat you (since there is no carbonation), and it was delicious and easy to drink (it has 5% ABV!). The refreshing taste of real iced tea (with a twist) was perfect treat to enjoy out in the Texas heat!

The Twisted Tea RV is hitting the road, and will be at many of the NASCAR races, with the goal of inspiring drinkers around the country to tailgate Twisted Tea style. They are looking for their fans to throw bigger and better tailgates, which is why they've created Tailgating Pro Tips (which I’ve included below).

#1– Keep the Twisted Tea Cold(never let the Twisted Tea get warm! Make sure you stock up on ice!)

#2– Let the Games Begin (always, ALWAYS have games!)

#3– Fire Up the Grill (twist things up by grilling your ribs, hot dogs or bratwursts with Twisted Tea)

#4– Be a Tailgate Hero (make sure everyone gets home safe with ride share codes!)

The games are what makes the tailgate for me. I could play corn hole and life-size JENGA all day every day! I'm not much of a cook. I generally pass the honorary tongs to someone else.

Here are a few scenes from the Twisted Tea tailgate at Texas Motor Speedway last weekend.

We also got to meet and hang with Casey Webb, the host of the hit show Man vs. Food! He was such a cool guy and so down to earth. He grilled us up some incredible BBQ brisket tacos that were to die for. You can find some of Twisted Tea’s signature tailgate recipes on their website here.

HOW COOL is the Twisted Tea RV, can you imagine if you had this in your own backyard, at a country concert or at a baseball game?

They certainly know they are not the only tailgating pros out there, so they want to see how YOU are tailgating. They've launched a photo contest asking you to share how you tailgate like a pro. They'll choose a winner at the end of the summer, and that winner will have the opportunity to host their own Twisted Tailgate with the Twisted Tea RV.

OMG, can you imagine if you had all this in your own backyard, at a country concert or at a baseball game? If you win, please invite me!

To enter, share photos of your tailgates with Twisted Tea by either uploading here or posting to Instagram with the hashtag #TwistedTailgate The winner will receive the opportunity to throw their own Twisted Tailgate with our Twisted Tea RV!
