Ever since getting back from our honeymoon I've been a little down in the dumps. It was shockingly hard to go from such a high for 10 straight days with the wedding we worked so hard to plan for over a year, followed by the best trip of my life with my new husband, to back to the office and life as normal. There were no more mimosas in my hand at 10am, there were no cabanas and naps snuggled up under the palm trees, no white dresses or dance parties, no more fun in the sun. It just hit me like a ton of bricks last Sunday when we had to leave paradise and head back to reality.
Note to self, figure out how to retire at 31 and move to Mexico.....
I really needed another celebration on the calendar, I needed another little pick me up. We ate so much delicious seafood on our honeymoon, and I was craving it all over again. So this past weekend we decided to go treat ourselves to lobster to celebrate such a wonderful wedding weekend and honeymoon by having a little dinner celebration at Red Lobster!
We saw on Instagram that Red Lobster’s Lobsterfest, which is the ultimate celebration of everything lobster, is back! For a limited time, guests are invited to explore the largest variety of lobster dishes offered all year. During Lobsterfest, you can choose from nine new and classic lobster dishes prepared in a variety of craveable ways, including roasted, grilled, topped and steamed.
We had seen some sneak peeks of the limited time menu and new exactly what we wanted to order before we even got there. What is a celebration without a cocktail??? Not a celebration I want to be part of, so I started with their new Lobster Lover’s Punch, with Captain Morgan®, Bacardi® and Malibu® rum, shaken with berry and pineapple juice. It also came served in a 50th Anniversary collectible glass, which I was able to take home with me!
We of course ate every single one of the famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits, too!
Our server, Frelisa, suggested we start with the Chilled Lobster and Shrimp Cocktail, which is a chilled split petite Maine lobster tails and jumbo shrimp served with Red Lobster’s signature cocktail sauce. It was absolutely delicious, I probably could have eaten that for my dinner too it was so good!
All of the seafood served at Red Lobster is sourced in a manner that is Traceable, Sustainable and Responsible to ensure that a healthy seafood supply exists now and for generations. While you're in the restaurant, you'll see additional information about the brand’s sourcing commitments on its lobster tanks and in menus. For our entrees, my husband (that's a new word I'll need to get used to) picked the Lobster Lover’s Dream® which is a succulent roasted rock lobster tail and sweet split Maine lobster tail, steamed and served with lobster and shrimp linguini Alfredo. I opted for one of the cheesier options, the Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese with Maine and langostino lobster tossed with cavatappi pasta in a cheesy truffle lobster cream, topped with toasted Parmesan panko crumb.
One thing you have to remember, when it comes to lobster fishing it isn’t just a job, it’s really a way of life in countless coastal communities. It's a tradition passed down from generation to generation. Red Lobster does such a great job supporting the men and women in these communities who fish responsibly and sustainably.
Check out this video produced in partnership with Great Big Story, which gives you a glimpse into lobster sustainability from some of the trusted fishermen who’ve provided lobster to Red Lobster for generations.
Next time you're looking for a place to celebrate, whether that be as simple as date night or a big birthday meal, add Red Lobster to your list of places perfect for any special occasion! There are so many DFW area locations, all with great service and delicious food, including the one I visited in Duncanville.
