You know what my favorite words on the planet are?
IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TEXAS!
HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS, BABY!?!
IT WAS A CATCH!!!!!
If you're HYPED up for Sunday, September 10th's game at home against our rivals the NY Giants then I have just the card game you need to know about. It's perfect for taking to a tailgate, playing at home or even bringing to a spot like Community Brewery on Saturday afternoons. If you're a Dallas sports super fan, or even just a casual fan, the best new sports trivia game that you need to know about is called You Gotta Know Dallas.
The game comes with a total of 125 cards and 500 questions about all of the various Dallas sports teams, everything from Rangers to Stars to Mavs to Cowboys.
Just a little background info about me, I'm a die hard sports fan. I can hang with pretty much anyone on any sports topic from fantasy football to the NBA. I'll go ahead and admit though, I'm not as much of a hockey buff. Those questions intimidate me just a bit. In this box though, there are questions for all skill and knowledge levels. For example, one of the questions is, "In 2014, what company bought the naming rights to the Rangers ballpark in Arlington?"
Well, I guess we could also go on to say, and then again bought it in 2017 for the Rangers new stadium. Well, that would of course be Globe Life Park.
Then there are questions that I wouldn't know in a million years. I.e. Who served as the Cowboys chief talent scout (offiically VP of player personnel) from their inception in 1960 through his firing in 1989? NO CLUE - but now, thanks to this game, I know the answer is Gil Brandt!
Although I am ALL IN on ALL of the Dallas sports teams now, I didn't grow up a Dallas sports fan. I'm from Virginia and then went to college in Tennessee, so I have a lot of learning to do to play catchup on the Dallas sports scene. This is a great way to have some fun and learn A LOT about our city's sports along the way.
There are a couple of ways to play this game.
1. Quick race to 21: Each card has a point value based on difficulty. The first person (or team, if you're at a big Texan sized tailgate) to get 21 points, wins.
2. Be sure everyone has a beer in their hand and someone narrates the cards and each person tries to guess the answer. (p.s. this way is way more my speed).
If Dallas sports aren't your thing, this game has actually expanded to 11 various cities across the country.... but we won't worry about that because if you're reading this blog, I assume Dallas is exactly "your thing".
This would make a great gift to take with you to your next tailgate and give to the host - they did buy all the burger meat, buns and chips and lugged a grill all the way out to AT&T Stadium after all.
