WHERE TO EAT IN PLANO || TRUE FOOD KITCHEN

May 24, 2017

Now, I live in the heart of Dallas, but I feel like I can't scroll more than 3 instas without hearing about another new restaurant opening in Plano. Plano is quickly becoming a foodie's dream, and most certainly worth the 20-30 minutes (non rush hour, of course) drive from Dallas. If you're looking for a great place to eat in Plano, look no further than the new True Food Kitchen at Legacy West.

If you don't want to drive, there is also a True Food Kitchen open in Dallas - located at the Plaza at Preston Center.

I personally think you should make the trip and check out this spot. I mean, driving there, you're well over halfway to IKEA at this point. Yes, I am obsessed with IKEA and yes I find any excuse to get over there and spend my entire paycheck. I just can't quit them.

I digress.

When you walk up to this new, fresh and healthy spot you're greeted with the cutest patio filled with bright yellow chairs, marble table tops and even a cute hot air balloon mural.

If you've followed me for any length of time, you'll know I never met a mural I didn't like!

As we walked in we were greeting by several smiling faces who asked us for our reservation. They led us to a great table right in the middle of everything. I love their open kitchen where you get a little glimpse behind the scenes. There's also more wall art in the bar area, perfect for a #HandsInFrame #DrinksInTheAir instagram pic!

The concept behind True Food Kitchen is that it is a health-driven, flavor-forward menu that rotates regularly to let guests experience great-tasting ingredients at the peak of their freshness. The servers all wore different shirts that said things like "FRESH" or "Green Goddess". Super cute concept.

My date (my mom) ordered a gin and tonic. Our server told us they actually make the tonic in-house, which I found fascinating. I don't think I've ever heard of that before. Then again, admittedly, I don't order many gin and tonics.

I usually ask for, "the most popular drink on Instagram"

Hey -- go ahead and judge, I'm good with it. I have an addiction to Instagram and the prescription is more pink drinks with pretty garnishes

True to form, I ordered the Blueberry Royale with organic vodka and prosecco which was pink and very ready for it's Instagram fame. Lucky for me though, it was crisp and refreshing. The only bad part was how fast I wanted to suck it down, it was so good!

We started with a couple of items from the "VEGETABLES" section on the menu. The Torched Avocado and the Chioggia Beet Bruschetta. While the torched avocado was incredible, for me personally, the beet bruschetta stole the show. I am generally pretty indifferent to beets, but paired with the vegan ricotta I found a new love for a food I rarely gravitate to.

For our main course we had a few different items.

The Roasted Artichoke with sugar snap peas, smoked onion, roasted garlic, black truffle and that same, amazing vegan almond ricotta from my beet appetizer.

We also had a bowl of the Red Chili Noodles and the incredible Lasagna Bolognese topped with house-made chicken sausage, mushroom, spinach, lemon ricotta and herbs.

We finished up the meal with the Flourless Chocolate Cake drizzled with caramel and cocoa nibs, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

My guests didn't understand that camera eats first so I don't have a picture of that. Guess you'll just have to go in and see it for yourself, huh?

Be sure to check out True Food Kitchen in Plano, now open! You're going to absolutely love it!
